Introduction
Brett Austin is a highly skilled and accomplished martial arts master teacher, proficient in a diverse range of martial arts styles. With a lifelong dedication to the martial arts, Brett has embraced his passion by devoting himself to teaching full time at his center in Yamba, New South Wales. His martial arts journey began as a child in 1984, serving as a catalyst for his subsequent enrollment in the Regular Army in 1989.
During his time in the military as a Combat Engineer, Brett discovered Go Ju Ryu and embarked on his training, eventually attaining the rank of Black belt. His various postings overseas provided him with valuable opportunities to train in Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and other combative arts. Having served in Active Service in East Timor, Brett returned to Brisbane and established a full-time Close Quarter Combat training center. He was appointed as the 2IC of Budo-Jitsu CQC, further solidifying his expertise in the field.
With 38 years and counting as a martial artist, 20 years as a teacher, and 10 years as an ex-serviceman, Brett possesses a unique combination of skills and real-life experience that few can match. His martial arts academy, with a primary focus on "Realistic self-protection," offers a modern, family-focused, safe, welcoming, and friendly environment. Brett's extensive training encompasses various martial art styles, including Goju-Ryu Karate, Hapkido, Hosinsul, Tukkong Moosol, Close Quarter Combat, and the unique KABOSI style—a fusion of Kali, Boxing, and Silat.
Diamond Martial Arts, affiliated with a network of martial arts schools sharing a philosophy of realistic self-protection, has been operating since October 2016. Through Brett's exceptional expertise and dedication, the school has gained a well-respected reputation and strong support within the community of Yamba and its surrounding areas.
