Introduction
Constantino "Tino" Ceberano OAM (Order of Australia Medal) is an esteemed figure in the martial arts world, holding a 10th degree black belt in karate and serving as a master (Guro) of the Filipino Martial Art of Arnis. Tino is not only Australia's most decorated martial arts practitioner but is also held in high regard by tens of thousands of students who have had the privilege of receiving his guidance. His lifelong dedication to the martial arts has earned him recognition both in Australia and abroad, and he is widely regarded as the founding father of the martial arts in his homeland.
Hanshi Tino's training began in Hawaii, where he studied Filipino stick fighting under the tutelage of his father. His martial arts journey expanded to include various disciplines such as Judo, Kempo, and Kyokushinkai Karate. However, it was in Hawaii, as a US Marine, that Tino was introduced to the Goju Kai Karate system. Under the guidance of Master Masa Oshiro, the Chief Instructor of the Hawaii Division and a direct disciple of the legendary Gogen Yamaguchi, Tino developed a strong foundation in Goju Karate. His close friendship with Gogen Hanshi and the Yamaguchi family led him to become the bridge that introduced the system to other countries, particularly Australia.
After settling in Australia and establishing his martial arts career, Tino became the driving force behind the nation's most progressive and influential martial art systems. His teachings created a legacy of exceptional karate practitioners who represented their countries and went on to establish successful organizations of their own, all owing their success to the guidance and support of their Sensei, Tino Ceberano. In 2018, Constantino Ceberano received the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia, bestowed upon him by the Australian Government in recognition of his lifelong and significant contributions to the martial arts.
Hanshi Constantino Ceberano is undeniably one of the world's most respected figures in the martial arts community. His leadership roles within the Goju Kai and other governing bodies in Australia have endowed him with unparalleled experience and qualifications. His expertise and dedication have solidified his status as a revered leader in the industry, commanding immense respect from practitioners around the globe.
