His martial arts journey began in the 1970s on the wrestling mats in the USA, where he quickly made a name for himself by winning a Cape & Islands title and captaining the 1981 OCL championship team.
Transitioning to karate, Ed earned a 2nd Dan in Goju-ryu, demonstrating his commitment to mastering the art. His focus then shifted to full-contact ring fighting throughout the 1990s, where he achieved significant success, claiming titles in New England, the East Coast, and at the national level in the USA. Notably, Ed was the USA Super Middleweight Muay Thai Champion in 1992, solidifying his reputation as a formidable competitor in multiple disciplines.
In the last two decades, Ed has made a significant impact as a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) coach in Australia, training both professional and amateur fighters. His extensive coaching roster includes notable athletes such as Brian Ebersole, Banjo Patterson, Charlie Alaniz, Supi Lanumata, Raja Shippen, and Oil Can Cowley.
