Introduction

Phillip Huges is a dedicated practitioner of Karate, holding the esteemed rank of 2nd dan Black belt. His martial arts journey commenced in 1991 under the tutelage of Shihan Barry Johnston, within the esteemed Te Shin Kai Karate Do organization. From his very first lesson, Sempai Phil recognized the profound significance of martial arts in his life, and it became a path he was committed to pursuing indefinitely.

Sempai Phil firmly believes in the immense value that martial arts imparts, bestowing upon him physical conditioning, self-control, increased energy levels, enhanced concentration, weight management, inner tranquility, and a deep sense of honor and humility. These invaluable attributes have made him adept at avoiding conflicts. Moreover, his passion lies in teaching others, as he wholeheartedly believes in his students and derives great satisfaction from witnessing their continual growth. Observing the joy on their faces when they grasp concepts they previously struggled with is particularly rewarding to him. Guiding individuals to achieve their goals brings him immense fulfillment.

Sempai Phil has had the privilege of contributing to the development of secondary school students through his involvement in the ACSD Skills for Life program. He considers this program to be an integral part of children's growth, especially for those at risk. Coaching and training alongside his own children is a source of great joy for him, and he takes pride in the fact that they embrace the core values of martial arts. This enables them to make sound life choices, foster healthy and respectful relationships, and serve as positive role models for others.

Recognized for his exceptional proficiency in martial arts, Sempai Phil commands deep respect from all who are acquainted with him. He is an indispensable member of the teaching fraternity within the Teshinkai organization, contributing significantly to its success and development.
