**Grand Master (GM) Ridvan Manav** is a highly esteemed 9th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido and a recent inductee into the World Taekwondo Hall of Fame. As the founder and head instructor of the Australian Martial Arts Academy, GM Ridvan has dedicated his life to cultivating champions in martial arts and in life. Under his leadership, the academy has flourished into one of Australia’s most successful martial arts institutions, nurturing countless state, national, and international champions. His warm and approachable demeanor has endeared him to thousands of students, both past and present, fostering a supportive community within the school.
In the 1980s, GM Ridvan was a formidable competitor, clinching numerous titles in state, national, and international competitions, including a gold medal at the World Martial Arts Games. This early success propelled him into a lifetime of dedication to martial arts excellence, but his expertise transcends just fighting; it extends to mentoring students in personal development and life skills.
At the Australian Martial Arts & Fitness Academy, GM Ridvan also established the renowned **X-Treme Team**, which has a rich history dating back to the academy's founding in 1982. This dynamic performance group seamlessly blends elements from various traditional martial arts styles with exciting choreography, acrobatics, and weapons. The X-Treme Team has captivated audiences at thousands of events across Australia and around the globe, achieving notable recognition by reaching the finals of “Australia's Got Talent” and performing on popular television shows such as the “Morning Show with Kerri-Anne,” “Saturday Disney,” and “Sunrise,” as well as at shopping centers and festivals nationwide.
In addition to his extensive contributions to martial arts, GM Ridvan was honored to coach the Australian National Team at the World Taekwondo Championships. Since the Sydney 2000 Olympics, he has been a VIP guest at every Olympic Games, showcasing his dedication to promoting martial arts on a global stage. His commitment to making martial arts accessible and enjoyable for everyone is reflected in the academy's rigorous schedule, with over 150 classes taught each week.
