Peter Hills, known as Shihan Peter, is an esteemed practitioner of Ju Jitsu with a 6th Dan black belt. His dedication to the martial art began in 1990, and since 1995, he has been sharing his expertise as a Ju Jitsu instructor. Currently serving as the chief instructor of San Go Ichi Ryu Ju Jutsu, Shihan Peter oversees four thriving clubs located in South-East QLD.
Throughout his martial arts journey, Shihan Peter has explored various disciplines, including Judo, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Yoshinkan Aikido, Karate/Kobudo, and kenjutsu. However, his primary focus has always been Traditional Gendai Jujutsu. Alongside his passion for Ju Jitsu, Shihan Peter has pursued a career in education as a high school maths teacher. Remarkably, he embarked on both paths simultaneously in 1995, utilizing his pedagogical skills to enhance the learning experiences of his Ju Jitsu students. Recognized as a Senior Teacher by Education Queensland, Shihan Peter has consistently integrated his teaching expertise into the realm of martial arts.
Shihan Peter holds a level 3 coaching accreditation from the Australian Ju Jitsu Federation, reflecting his commitment to promoting and developing the sport. Additionally, he has assumed various positions of responsibility within the martial arts community, presently serving as the Queensland representative for the International Budo Federation.
The style of Ju Jitsu practiced at San Go Ichi Ryu Jujutsu is deeply rooted in the philosophy of bun-bu ichi, where theory and practice are intertwined. Emphasizing the perfection of biomechanics and self-defense sequences through purposeful drills, the training curriculum instills martial arts etiquette and strategy. Furthermore, the students engage in randomized self-defense scenarios and sparring, ensuring the practicality of their skills in real-life situations. This comprehensive approach caters to individuals of all ages and abilities, as Shihan Peter remains dedicated to upholding the essence, purpose, and principles of Jujutsu
