Introduction

Dale, a 1st Dan Black belt in Karate, made a triumphant return to the martial arts world in 2010 after an impressive 20-year hiatus. His journey took him to the Bendigo Mixed Martial Arts Academy and Te Shin Kai Bendigo, where he trained under the esteemed guidance of Shihan Barry Johnston and Shihan Frank McKinley.

Dale's martial arts odyssey began in his formative years when he immersed himself in Shukokai Karate, mentored by Sensei Bob Shearwood. His early training sessions unfolded on the traditional floorboards of a quaint church hall nestled in Dingley, a Melbourne suburb to the southeast.

A martial artist of exceptional skill, technical prowess, and unwavering respect, Sempai Dale became a revered karate coach at the Bendigo Mixed Martial Arts Academy. Beyond Karate, he expanded his expertise by delving into Muay Thai during his journey, with childhood roots in judo.

In 2017, Dale's dedication and hard work earned him the coveted Shodan rank, and he currently pursues the Nidan (2nd Dan). As a devoted father of three daughters, he comprehends the holistic significance of personal development, emphasizing the physical, emotional, and intellectual aspects—a philosophy he passionately promotes through martial arts.

One of Dale's most cherished experiences has been the privilege of training and coaching his eldest daughter, Olivia, who proudly holds a Te Shin Kai black belt.

With profound knowledge and extensive practical experience in strength and conditioning spanning over three decades, Dale champions a comprehensive coaching philosophy. His contribution as a lifelong practitioner in this field complements his martial arts journey.

Moreover, Dale served as a founding director of Kyokushinkaikan Allied Karate Ltd from 2018 to 2019, showcasing his commitment to the martial arts community.

His diverse background extends to the sports industry, where he managed the sporting program at Wesley College Melbourne from 1994 to 2001. In this role, he fostered broad participation in a variety of sports, focusing on enhancing the health, well-being, and skill development of school-aged children, while also achieving sporting premiership success.

Dale is recognized as a senior leader with a strong coaching pedigree and a fervent desire to nurture individuals. He has meticulously honed his coaching philosophy and capabilities in both the sporting and corporate realms.
