Dhanesh Walatara is a 6th Dan Black belt in Karate Shihan Dhanesh began his martial arts journey in Sri Lanka in 1983 when he was just 13 years of age. The young Dhanesh graded to Shodan (Black Belt) in the Shotokan style (Nihon Karate-do Kenseikan) in 1988, and soon after moved to the United Kingdom to further his studies with the Japanese Karate Association (JKA) where he continued to hone his skills and immerse himself into the traditional concepts of Budo Karate. Shihan Dhanesh now operates a traditional Karate school on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia and is an affiliated school of the Australian Karate federation and Queensland Karate Federation. His martial arts school is aimed at fostering quality athletes both on and off the matts. Shibukai Martial Arts is the style founded by Shihan Dhanesh which promotes the traditional values of the Shotokan Style. Classes are designed to cover a range of skills that include weapons (Kobudo) and traditional Karate which helps improve one’s fitness and self defence and results in improved focus and confidence. Classes include age groups beginning at 5 years all the way to adult programs.
